Lesson from a Fountain
John 4:14 - But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
The first word of John 4:10, tells us who is speaking in John 4:14. (John 4:10a = Jesus answered and said...)
If you're a Christian, do you feel like the fountain that Jesus described in John 4:14? Have you ever felt like the fountain in verse 14 since you became a Christian?
Eternal life is just ONE benefit of the Christian life; God greatly desires that a Christian's life here on earth be a tiny glimpse of what eternal life in Heaven will be like; not only for the enjoyment of the Christian here but, also for non Christians to see what the Christian life entails - so that, they would desire that same life.
Whenever you see a fountain, I encourage you to consider your Christian life - are you living like that fountain; bursting with the JOY of being a Christian, not being able to wait until the next opportunity to tell a non Christian about what the Christian life is and how they too can enjoy that life?
Or are you like a broken fountain, that doesn't work properly? Meaning, have the cares of this life here on earth become too much, and instead of going to God, asking for repair, you've succumb to Satan's lies that, you're not worthy to be 'fixed' or, it was just a matter of time before you gave up and now there's no hope for repair, or, something else that Satan would love to tempt you with, so that you stop 'springing forth' for God and His Kingdom?
Please don't allow Satan's lies to stop you; remember, John 8:44 - Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Whether or not it's realized, non Christians need Christians to continually being fountains that are 'springing forth' the JOY of the Christian life; there's never a reason the Christian life should be anything except joyful - Christians are God's Children and have the opportunity of enjoying every blessing God offers.
